Weirdness

So what am I doing during this yuletide season? Reading.

A book I’ve just started is
Shyness - How normal behavior became a sickness by Christopher Lane a Research Professor at North Western University, Chicago, USA. The book has just been released and catalogues how the Psychiatry Bible (the DSM-IV) was re-written by a small group of psychiatrists in the 1970’s, with normal behaviours compartmentalised to become mental illnesses that should be treated with drugs. Who benefited? Well, you’ll just have to read it for yourself! A quote: "Before you sell a drug, you have to sell the disease". I am always interested in history, and the history of our Church doctrines is no less fascinating! Check them out. Another book I hope to read soon is One small speck to man – the evolution myth written by Dr. Vij Sodera, a distinguished surgeon in the U.K with a plethora of interests.

Okay, now that the pleasantries are over (ahem… clearing my throat…), let’s look at a few things together.

My last two notes have been a little weird for some. I would say that all of us have weird experiences, but not everyone talks about them for fear of being labelled a “wacko”. There are weirder ones which I just keep to myself these days. There’s nothing normal or abnormal about them, nor should they be what defines us.

The key is keeping our heads level, focusing on the simple things. Remember that people’s opinions of you will always differ. Some people will even ALWAYS hate you. There MUST be opposition and contention. This is NECESSARY for our development as we walk this maze of life. Our job in life is not to grovel to every Tom, Dick & Lucy! Our job in life is to grow, and to help others grow. The natural progression of a child is a case in point. That’s why I always wonder about talk of
viability and choice, as if a 1-year old child could be left alone in a house by his parents with $500 for 4 weeks and told to get whatever he needs over the internet! Would that child be viable by the end of 4 weeks with no food and water? Such is the flawed thinking about caring for one who is vulnerable at any age (old/young/pre-birth) or gestation. But I digress again…

The last two notes were really about learning to not be swayed by every thing.

Understand that the rain (even
the latter and former rain) falls upon the just and the unjust, and the sun (even the Son) gives warmth to everyone that comes in contact with it.

Now imagine you are in an assembly and a man is spewing out blasphemies against God. He then calls out a man with an amputated forearm, he says a few words of prayer (!!) and the limb is made whole before your very eyes! Now what would you say about that?

This man has tapped into healing energy that is provided by God and is freely available. We can use this energy to give God glory or use it to give someone else or ourselves glory.

Therefore we should not be swayed, for there are (and will be) many startling things happening around the world, and if we can’t discern - we will think Jannes & Jambres are as Moses. If it were possible the elect would be deceived, by their fruits you shall know them. Fruits, fruits, fruits…

But herein also is the key of balance. For we are told to do everything through the eyes of Love (1 Corin 13); so that even when we see the corrupted fruit, we look within that one to see the original pure seed of God! Therefore we can see the bigger picture, thinking above the box. Not confined to it or outside it, but seeing above it; able to pray for those who hurt us, yet being also freed to love them. We would acknowledge these ones error and sin, yet remain steadfast in prayer because we know that love never fails!

I charge you today to look into the mirror and see the very seed of God! Look into someone’s eyes and see the final picture as our God of Love sees – no matter how the scaffolding may appear for now. [“Christian” behaviour leaves a lot to be desired these days (
http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/12/12/subway.attack/) -- as if the Christ of the Mass taught us to behave like this! Though that’s not even His birthday – as he most likely was born in Sept/Oct. December being His conception 9 months prior.]

Have you looked deeply into your pets eyes today? What do you see?

Have you considered the sunflower? Startlingly simple, but stunningly beautiful!

How about the cool breeze that blows on your face in the heat of the day?

Consider the lonely little sparrow, she happily sings in pure melodious tunes to her God; sounds we can not even begin to mimic.

The whispers of our God are heard throughout all dimensions, all universes – stretching forth to touch us ever so gently that we may consider Him and wonder at His love and power.

Let’s tear off the veneer of glamour before our eyes, my friends. We all wake up with dragon’s breathe and looking “terrible”. Toothpaste, soap and perfume cover our frailties before our fellow man, but our hearts are always exposed before Him with whom we have to do. Let us therefore maintain our focus on the pure and simple, and everything will begin to take on the hue of Glory that our Father’s heart emits: His Love!

So don’t be afraid of being weird!

Merry Christmas!

Tony
