A Lesson from "ER"
Is the ATONEMENT the same as "AT-ONE-MENT", as some would have us believe? They describe the word as the "Moment of realisation that one is actually god"; rather than the actual meaning: Christ Jesus sacrifice for us on the Cross.
The New Age proponents have the order all wrong. In an attempt to prove our godhood, they place man as the one in control; when it the Father that is to bring us closer to Himself as we yield more to the power of His Son, Jesus Christ. Has the Scriptures not said, "Ye are gods... but ye shall all die as men"? (Psalm 82:6-7; John 10:34-38)
I love the way Jesus calls the Psalms "Law". The entire Scripture is the Law of God (not just Moses' Law), and must be viewed and searched out to know His very heart!
The clip below is taken from the ER episode titled "Atonement" aired on Jan 17th 2008 in the USA (the 303rd episode, season 14).
I picked this video up when I scanned this site today: http://bromattsblog.wordpress.com/ (thanks Matt!)
We as Christians might disagree on several issues, but when it comes to the fundamentals...
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life". (John 14:6)
"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)
...there must be agreement, or we have no basis (no Christ as our foundation) on which to say we are members of His Body.
But all things will be made right before Him who comes as a refiner's fire and a fuller's soap (Malachi 3:2). We then will only look back and say what error we had ben caught up in; but He will steer us back to Himself, however long it takes, however "far out" of the road we have gone - He stands ready always to bring us back to Himself!
I hope this brings the discussions on this new diversion away from Him to a close for all who seek Him with all their hearts. Questions will forever remain. But take heart: all questions will eventually be answered.
Blessings,
Tony
