With sadness (yet with the heavenly joy that all saints know), I share with you the passing into Glory of our beloved brother, Carl R. Schwing, on Easter Sunday.

I knew Carl for just under two years - but what a blessed time it was.

We corresponded via snail-mail and phone calls, and I haved cherished every moment of it.

With great humility he served the Body of Christ - though he bore in his own body the marks of pain and suffering; he never relented in sharing words of upliftment and encouragement to all he encountered and through his "Little Letters".

He will be sorely missed, but he has moved beyond the veil to the Greater Glory - where pain and suffering is no more. He has been joined to the ONE whom he loves, and shall never again be separated from the throngs of saints on High.

The Race has only just begun my beloved brother! We will meet again at the "Rendezvous of the Saints"!

My condolences to all his family and to Tom, whom I spoke to several times as well.

Below is the tribute that broke the news to me when I googled Carl's name this morning.

Blessings,

Tony

Obituary - Carl R. Schwing

Carl R. Schwing, 72, of Howe Township, Forest County, Sheffield HC 1, owner of Tall Oaks, died Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Warren General Hospital in Warren.

Born Dec. 23, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Louis Abraham and Ruth Engelke Schwing.

Mr. Schwing was part owner of Tall Oaks since its inception in 1981.

His personable, engaging personality, full of life color and an exceptional sense of humor, has been responsible for making the Tall Oaks shops a remarkable success.

He will be especially remembered, however, for his spirituality and gallant struggle with a very debilitating illness for many years as he carried on a Christian ministry that has touched the lives and hearts of multitudes.

His lofty, beautiful, and reverent words will continue going forth in a book compiling these writings. Carl's loss will be felt deeply by many but especially by his dear friend and caregiver of many years, Tom Beletic, with whom he resided and was a partner with at Tall Oaks.

Also surviving is a sister Lillan Wendling from Cincinnati, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Schwing, Leo Wendling, and Louis Schwing, and a sister, Ruth Schwing.

Friends will be received at the home of Carl R. Schwing, next to Tall Oaks in Howe Township, Forest County, from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Friends may also gather at the Schwing home at 11 a.m. Thursday to join a procession to the cemetery.

The family said, "We know that Carl is now soaring with saints and angels in the heavenly realms and bowing low in worship before His Father, Lord, and King."

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta. For further information or directions call (814) 755-3511.

Funeral condolences can be sent to wfh@penn.com.
